"I have been learning piano with Bev now for two years and have progressed immensely in this time. As an adult learner with no musical background, I took up piano as a way to focus my mind on other aspects of life, rather than simply work. My lack of musical training has not been a problem, as with Bev, I have learnt both theoretical and practical elements.
I have been able to play a mix of music that is both for pleasure and performance. I am now confident in my playing and will be attempting exams later this year.
I have found Bev to be incredibly informative and patient, and without her, would certainly not have progressed so far."

"We chose Beverley at Terrigal Piano Studio for her professionalism and understanding of our needs. After six months of lessons my daughter, Millie, has progressed significantly from brand new beginner. Not only has she progressed on her technical competency, but also her understanding of the new language of music. To be able to read music is such a skill and thanks to Beverley, Millie now has the basics of that skill. Thank-you Beverley for your dedication, firm but fun teaching method and sharing your passion for music with Millie."
Belinda Tolman, parent
" I love playing duets with my teacher they are such fun! I really hope she has a concert again next year. It was quite scary to begin with but then I forgot to be nervous and felt so proud playing in front of my family!"

"We are very happy that we send our son to piano studies with Beverley Haley. She has established a great rapport with him and we have seen great achievement and enjoyment as a result. Bev is very professional with her lessons and demands attention not only to technical detail but also to the emotion and story that every piece should express. She has focused on playing pieces as it was intended to be played by the composer. She does this kindly and patiently. She never lets him get away with shortcuts or mistakes, and we would recommend Bev for anyone looking for a solid and enjoyable music education and for anyone willing to work hard for amazing results."
Hayli O'Rourke, parent
"Ms Haley is always encouraging and positive, never giving up. She always has something new to show me, knowing I'll like it. She always focuses on weak spots and helps me until I get it right. She's an awesome teacher."
Tadhg O'Rourke, 8 years old
"I have been doing piano lessons since I was in Year 3, and now I'm in Year 8! I came to piano not knowing anything at all, and now I am doing my grade exams. I love learning and playing piano and Ms Haley is the best teacher I could have".
Eryn Clarke, 13 years old
"I have had the honour of having Ms Haley as my piano teacher for the past six years. She has helped me to improve and to become a better piano player, and I am continuing to improve with her help. I am currently studying for my Grade 4 exam, and Ms Haley has remained incredibly patient with me throughout this time. I am extremely thankful for all Ms Haley has done and am always excited to come to my next lesson to learn more from her".
Amelia, 15 years old
"I am a young man who is following a career in the entertainment industry, and learning the skill of playing the piano has always been a major goal for me. It was this that led me to Beverley and the wonderful Terrigal Piano Studio. Though I have only been with Beverley for a moderately small amount of time, I have learnt a lot about the art of playing the piano, and would strongly recommend Beverley to whomever is interested in learning! She is a wonderfully charismatic mentor and will certainly keep you accountable with practising at home (which in my case is much needed from time to time), whilst still remaining very understanding and patient with my busy schedule. Give it a go! You won't regret it! "

"When I grow up and I have children, I will bring them to learn piano from you"
Keeva, 6 years old
"I want to do more piano lesson!" (at the end of every class!)
Saska , 6 years old
I just wanted to say a big thank you for the way in which my daughter (Aleisha, 11 years old) has progressed since beginning piano lessons with you. To see her reading and playing music is fantastic. What is more pleasing is to see how much she enjoys it. The smile on her face at the end of each lesson is testament of the time and effort you put in with her. Thank you."
Raelene Radford, parent
"Beverley has given exceptional tuition to my two children aged 6 and 9. She is enthusiastic and knowledgeable in all aspects of music. Her structured lesson styles give a strong grounding in theory and practice, progressing at a pace that suits their individual needs.
My children have vastly different personalities and learning styles, and Beverley has gone above and beyond to accommodate this. When faced with challenges such as sensory processing disorder and the accompanying complex behaviour she has been flexible supportive and persistent".
Larissa Collins, parent
"I recommend Bev to you as a capable, astute teacher who tailors her teaching to the child. My son Tom is a lively boy somewhat easily distracted. Bev keeps him focused and learning rather than just going through the motions of teaching. This quality of understanding the needs and learning style of a child is a quality Bev obviously has. My daughter Susan is much quieter and sometimes a bit dreamy and Bev readily motivates her and keeps her interested. I have observed this over a period of years with my own children and have recommended Bev to other parents whom I know have also been happy with her teaching styles and methods with their children."
Lisa Graham, parent
"At 67 my daughter decided it was time for me to learn the basics of piano playing. Starting as a beginner was a smart move, and 6 months later, I find that I have a reasonable understanding of what is needed to enjoy the piano. I have been taught well to understand that there are no short cuts.
After moving through scales, exercises, some chosen pieces and duets, I now look back and see a vast improvement. Beverley assesses her educative techniques constantly and I was often given print outs giving clear directions for positive correction.
The lesson book chosen for me is full of pieces that are very familiar to people my age. If I turn up with a piece that I would like to do as well, Beverley's assistance is encouraging and productive.
I continue to be enthused and hopefully I am getting better each week."
David Winter, mature age student
"I studied piano as a young girl and was excited at the prospect of revisiting piano playing. I have been having lessons from Beverley for over a year now and have redeveloped my skills, much to my pleasure. Beverley is a patient tutor, who has personalised my lessons to meet both my skill level and musical interests."
"Recently being semi-retired, I decided to tackle one of my bucket-list items and fulfill a life-long ambition to play the piano (not an easy task when I have been used to using a typewriter/computer keyboard for 45 years, which I discovered uses a different technique to a music keyboard!). However, Bev has been very patient with my attempts to cope with these differences. She has a great way of simplifying concepts so that those without a musical background can grasp them more easily. If one method fails, she has plenty more up her sleeve! I particularly like that she sets high standards for her students and insists on excellence, and I really appreciate her great sense of humour. I can highly recommend Beverley to anyone wanting to learn piano, either seriously or just for fun like myself."
